Welcome to Florence County. We are the perfect balance of pristine nature and necessary amenities. We are surrounded by 265 lakes and 165 miles of rivers and streams. Most noteably the Pine and Popple rivers which are state designated "Wild Rivers". Kayaking and canoeing these rivers plus the Brule and Menominee are a great adventure for beginners or advanced paddlers. Our County in Northern Wisconsin, has many fishing and hunting opportunities with over 200,000 acres of public land.
Florence is an Up North vacation destination offering County, State and the federal Nicolet National Forest. With 80% of the county forested, there are many places to view wildlife and enjoy quiet, nature. If ATV/UTV or snowmobile trails are what you are looking for, we have more than 160 miles of trails and routes within and many more miles of town and forest roads to travel. The novice and the experienced riders will enjoy forested trails, open vistas through the Spread Eagle Barrens and even a 17-acre ATV park where you can go off-trail. Some trails give access to waterfalls, scenic overlooks, parks and more.
Spectacular scenery is not the only amenity that Florence County offers. Local entrepreneurs offer a variety of businesses throughout the County. These businesses provide necessities needed for vacationers and residents alike. Superb dining and a variety of lodging opportunities from deluxe rentals to full amenity campgrounds to rougher carry-in camping in the national forest.
