Carol grew up in the Upper Peninsula in Iron Mountain. She is the middle of 6 children and in a neighborhood full of kids, there was always someone to spend time with outdoors. After raising children and working outside the home, she retired to Spread Eagle area and found time to draw and paint. Carol is a self-taught artist and author of children’s books. Her nature inspired books gave her the outlet to write about and illustrate the wonderful area we live in.
The beauty of the Upper Peninsula and Northern Wisconsin with the abundant wildlife, wooded areas and multiple lakes and rivers have always been an inspiration for her work. Winters are the ideal time of year to create artwork, while Carol spends summers outdoors as much as possible. She encourages others in the area because there are so many wonderful stories to write and many creative people who should put their artistic talents to paper. Carol hopes you enjoy her work and that it will inspire you to create your own. She can be reached at RockyWaterArt@gmail.com.
Carol’s featured pieces are displayed in front of the waterfall mural and are for sale. Matted prints and her children’s books are also for sale in the gift shop. The interpretive center is open from 8am – 4pm Monday through Friday and 9am-3pm on Saturdays at 5628 Forestry Drive in Florence at the intersection of US 2 and Hwy 70.
