The next Outdoor Education program will be Tuesday, January 14th at 6:00 pm in Florence with Greg Matzke our WDNR Senior Fisheries Biologist. Greg’s presentation summary: Abundant walleye populations are becoming less common, and walleye can also be difficult to catch. But what if I told you that managing walleye is harder than catching them? Unfortunately, in many places this is the truth. We have tried many new techniques to create quality walleye fisheries in Florence and Forest Counties, some have worked…and some have not. During this presentation we will walk through all of the major walleye populations in these two counties. How is each population doing? What management strategies are we using? What does the future look like for these fisheries? I will attempt to answer all these questions, and hopefully more during this presentation.
This program starts at 6:00 pm in the lower level conference room at the Florence Natural Resource Center building located on the corner of US 2 and Highway 101/70 in Florence (5628 Forestry Drive). You may attend in person, or you may sign up to attend virtually via a TEAMS link by registering at www.ExploreFlorenceCounty.com.
