The next Take a Hike program will be Wednesday, April 30th at 6:00 pm in Florence featuring Julia Sigg, a local 60+ backpacker who hiked much of the Appalachian Trail.  Julia will share what she has learned about the dos and don’ts of packing your backpack.

So, if you are ready to try overnight backpacking and bought some fabulous new gear, how do you get it all in the pack?  Julia has found that life on the trail can be much easier if you have a plan.  She will discuss pack weight, prioritizing the right gear to fall within your weight limit and short cuts to get you on the trail right away.  You are welcome to bring your own pack and gear to get personalized advice about packing.

We are planning 2-3 more programs  for this Take A Hike series:  Gearing Up: What to Take and Not to Take, Midwest Backpacking Trail Options and How to Take Care of your Feet.

Programs start at 6:00 pm in the lower level conference room at the Florence Natural Resource Center building located on the corner of US 2 and Highway 101/70 in Florence (5628 Forestry Drive).  There will not be a zoom link available for this program.

The Florence County monthly Outdoor Education programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Wild Rivers Interpretive Center and UW-Extension Florence County.  This event is open to the public and free of charge.
