First Badwater Bash a Big Success

July 24, 2013

Florence County is not only a great place to live and recreate, but it has some awesome volunteers that do great things. Volunteers from a number of diverse groups pulled together to make the inaugural Badwater Bash & Bass Tourney a huge success. The weather and food were great. The fishermen caught some nice fish. The Badwater Ski-ters performed a great show. And the Classic Rock band Oz was awesome playing on Upper Audio’s lighted stage right by the water. With over 800 people attending this first year event, it was a great fundraiser for the Florence Volunteer Firemen and Badwater Ski-ters. The Firemen raised a portion of the monies they need to purchase a new Thermo Imaging machine to replace their 15 year old equipment.

We’d like to thank our cash sponsor businesses: WE Energies, Cirrinity by Niagara Telephone, Coleman Engineering Company, MirroCraft Boats and LaChapelle Insurance. Thanks also to the following businesses who donated prizes, supplies and services: Nine Lake Sport & Marine, Saloon No. 2, Florence Sport & Bait, Demko Electric, Northern Lites, Annie’s Trading Post, Kelly’s Corner Market, Florence Auto Parts (Car Quest), Keyes Lake Campground, Dina Mia’s, Xcell Graphix and Subway. This event was made possible by hard working volunteers from the Florence Volunteer Fire Department, Badwater Ski-ters, Florence County Forestry & Parks, Florence County Tourism, Florence County Economic Development, Keyes Peak Ski Hill Committee, State Bank of Florence staff, and Florence Rescue Squad.

If you missed this year’s event, mark your calendar for next year: July 12th, 2014 at Vagabond Park on the Twin Falls Flowage on US 2 in Spread Eagle.
