WI DNR Snowmobile Safety Course-January 2018

DNR Snowmobile Safety Course to be offered in January

There will be a DNR Snowmobile Safety Course held at the Armstrong Creek Town Hall (Community Center) in January. You must either register online at ‘’ or call Conservation Warden Kelly Crotty at 715-696-5303 or Conservation Warden Brad Dahlquist at 715-478-5610 to reserve a spot in the class prior to January 2nd. The class will be limited to the first 25 students that reserve a spot.
The class will be held on Tuesday, January 2nd from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM and Friday, January 5th from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Students must attend both classes to receive a certificate. If you were born on or after Jan. 1, 1985, and are at least age 12, you must complete a snowmobile safety certification course to operate a snowmobile on Wisconsin public snowmobile trails and waterways. 11 year old students can take the class, but their certificate will not become valid until their 12th birthday. Cost of the class is $10.00.

Roberts Memorial Ski Race at Keyes Peak (located 3 miles south of Florence on Hwy. 101)
Saturday, January 27, 2018. Ski instruction in the morning. Optional timed runs on a NASTAR course in the afternoon. All participants ages 6-17 will be awarded medals. ONLY $10 includes lessons, lift ticket, ski rentals if needed and a chance to race the course if you want to. $20 maximum per family.

Keyes Peak Snowmobile Hill-cross and Hill-climb Championship Races

The MASTERS Keyes Peak Snowmobile Hill Cross and Hill Challenge (sanctioned races) will take place on February 10, 2018 at Keyes Peak on Hwy 101, 4 miles south of Florence. Competition starts at 10am both days with gates open at 9am. A pass is $10 with kids under 12 free.

Fireman's Ball

On Saturday, February 24th, 2018 you won't want to miss the Florence Volunteer Fire Departments "Fireman's Ball". Doors open at the Encore on Central Ballroom at 5pm. Admission is $5. The meat raffle is from 5-8pm and the band Next Myle rocks the house from 8pm until Midnight.

Keyes Peak Winterfest

The Annual Keyes Peak Winterfest event is on Saturday, March 3rd at Keyes Peak Ski Hill 4 miles south of Florence on Hwy 101.

It only costs $15/person for a whole day of skiing, snowboarding, tubing, snowshoeing and games ($5 for season pass holders). This price includes your lift ticket, rental equipment and the chance to take part in other fun activities. The event starts at 11:00 am and the lift ticket is good until hill closing at 9:00 pm. This is a great family value! Activities include lessons from professional snow carvers, snowshoes potato race, human bowling and guided snowshoe hikes on the new Chickadee Snowshoe trails.
