Chili-Ski In CANCELLED For February 3rd at Lauterman Trail
Friends of the Wild Rivers Interpretive Center are disappointed to announce that the Annual Chili-Ski In is cancelled this year due to poor snow conditions. We have received little snow along with warm weather and rain. The snowshoe trail is nonexistent, and the Cross Country Trail has been groomed once this season, which is barely covering the root systems produced by the large fir trees in that area. All in all, it is a hazard to snowshoers without a packed base. The conditions are a danger to those using the snowshoe trail which is more that 75% of our participants. Next year we will hope for more snow cover so that our event can carry on.
The Friends of the Wild Rivers Interpretive Center as well as the USFS will host their annual Chili Ski In. This event will take place at the Lauterman Shelter located 9 miles west of Florence on Hwy 70. Mark your calendar for February 3rd, 2018.
The event starts at 10am and ends at 2pm.
This is a FREE event for all ages. Enjoy chili, hot dogs, hot chocolate, coffee and cookies. This is a well attended event, so mark your calendars, and we will be waiting at the Lauterman Trail Shelter with warm eats and drinks.
