A northern Wisconsin vacation in Florence County will leave you with memories of good times with friends around a crackling warm campfire on a crisp fall night, your kids happy faces as they run and jump off the dock into the lake just one more time, a loon's peaceful call as you relax after a full day of riding the trails. Some of our visitors have so much fun in our friendly little towns they buy a camp in the woods or cabin on the lake and become seasonal home owners. We actually have more seasonal than permanent residents and many hope to retire here someday.
Be sure to check out the historic buildings in our downtown restored to their early 1900's charm and filled with unique small businesses. You can learn about our varied natural resources at the Wild Rivers Interpretive Center, our early logging and mining history at the Historical Society Museum or take your camera and capture the Romanesque style of the 1889 Courthouse and Jail on the National Register of Historic places. We are also one of only two counties in Wisconsin that does not have a stop light, so if you're looking for traffic, you won't find it here. But if you are looking for a friendly, safe place to escape, explore and renew, you've found it!
If you need more information or maybe you prefer to communicate with a real person then give us a call or send us an email. We'd love to meet you and share our enthusiasm for Florence County.
